NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame baseball team will hold its annual Blue-Gold intrasquad series at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 and 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 (doubleheader) at Coveleski Stadium. Each game is open to the public and free-of-charge. The normal home of the Irish – Frank Eck Stadium – is unavailable due to ongoing renovations.
Notre Dame’s senior captains Charlie Markson (Whitefish Bay, Wisc.) and Frank DeSico (Cleveland, Ohio) will square off as player/managers for their respective teams. Markson will coach the Gold team while DeSico will be the Blue team’s skipper.
The starting pitchers for all three games of the Blue-Gold series have been finalized.
The Gold will use junior RHP Dan Slania (Tucson, Ariz.), while the Blue will counter with senior RHP Adam Norton (Highland, Ind.) in the opener. Junior RHP Sean Fitzgerald (McLean, Va.) and sophomore RHP Pat Connaughton (Arlington, Mass.) will start the second and third game of the series for the Gold, while the Blue will send sophomore RHP Kyle Rubbinaccio (Manalpan, N.J.) and junior RHP Donnie Hissa (Iron River, Wisc.) to the mound.
The three-game intrasquad series will be played out to its completion, weather permitting, regardless of outcomes.
