  • Joined the team as a walk-on for the 2017-18 season an immediately fit into the team dynamic and provided key practice depth due to a series of team injuries.
  • A successful senior season led to his return as a fifth-year graduate walk-on in 2018-19.

  • Will return to the roster for the 2018-19 season as a second-year walk on and will work toward a graduate degree.
  • Came off the bench against Hampton (3/13/18) in the first round of the NIT to score his second career field goal and match his career-high with three minutes played.
  • Scored his first career field goal against Southeastern Louisiana (2/21/17), while pulling down a career-high two rebounds in three minutes of action.
  • Saw his first career action in the final minute of the victory over Mount St. Mary’s (11/13/17).


  • Standout guard for Benet Academy during his freshman and senior high school years, helping them to a runner-up finish in the Illinois Class 4A tournament in 2014.
  • Averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists per game as a senior.
  • Earned three varsity letters in basketball along with one in baseball.
  • 2014 East Suburban Catholic All-Conference selection.
  • 2014 Chicago Tribune Scholar-Athlete.
  • Helped the 2014 Benet Academy baseball team win the 2014 East Suburban Catholic Conference championship.
  • Attended Singapore American School for his sophomore and junior high school seasons in Singapore, Singapore.

  • 2013 Hong Kong International School Holiday all-tournament selection.
  • Played AAU basketball for the Mercury Elite out of Northlake, Illinois.
  • Was a member of the 2016 Notre Dame Bookstore Basketball championship as a teammate of 2016-17 Irish walk-on Pat Mazza.
  • Brother, Connor, played football at Columbia University (2011-15).

  • Son of Joe and Katie Nelligan.
  • Joe Nelligan (1986) was a two-time captain and four-year letterwinner for the Notre Dame tennis team.
  • Has three brothers and three sisters.
  • Family has deep ties to the University of Notre Dame, as grandfather John Keyes (1958), father Joe (1986), brother Andrew (2011), brother Matthew (2013), uncle Kevin Keyes (1990), uncle John Breen (1985) and uncle Johnathan Kronstein (1990) are all Notre Dame graduates.
  • Aunt Karen Robinson Keyes is a 1991 Notre Dame graduate and two-time Midwestern Conference Player of the Year for the Irish women’s basketball team.
  • Sister, Tess, is a junior at Notre Dame.
  • Graduated in May of 2018 from the Mendoza College of Business with a degree in finance.
