SOPHOMORE SEASON (2021)

  • Played in 14 games and made 10 starts on the season.
  • Finished with 8 hits, 4 runs, 3 doubles, 6 RBI while slashing .250/.368/.344.
  • Set a career high with 2 RBI and tied a career high with two hits against Central Michigan (4/13).
  • Made his collegiate debut against Pitt (4/4).

PREP AND PERSONAL:

  • Senior yearEarned All-Area, All-Conference, and All-County honors, hit .395 in league play and .439 in postseason, led team in stolen bases, walks, on-base percentage, triples and was an All-State game selection.
  • Junior year – Won county championship, was an Underclass All-State Game selection, led the team in runs, stolen bases and was an All-Area selection.
  • Played his club for Full Count out of Middlesex, New Jersey since the beginning of the club’s creation in 2012. He was the longest tenured player in club history and played for the same team as former Irish pitcher Brandon Bielak.
  • Top-30 Prospect in New Jersey on PBR, No. 3 SS, Top-500 Prospect on Perfect Game, Northeast Region Preseason All-American, Preseason Underclass All-American, WWBA National Championship All-Tournament Team.
  • Also a four-year soccer letterwinner and was a three time all-state and all-county performer and served as team captain.
  • Representative on high school Student Council, a member of the National Honors Society, Spanish National Honors Society, Ignatian Scholars Leadership Team and Big Brother Program mentoring underclassmen.
  • Received the Scholar-Athlete Award for his graduating class, recognizing one student-athlete who exemplifies excellence on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
  • Received the Buzzio Award given to one player in the soccer program that embodies family, faith, community, and academics.
  • Son of Cornell and Maureen Hess. Has an older brother, Sean and a younger sister, Nora.
  • Cousin is a rower at the University of Tennessee.
  • Intends to major in business.
