Jack Russell 2017-18 Swimming and Diving Roster

AS A JUNIOR (2017-18):

    •    Opened the season with a fourth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (:57.91) against No. 7 Louisville.
    •    Placed third in the 100 breast (:57.76) at the tri-dual with Ball State and Green Bay.
    •    Finished strong by ending the season with a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (:54.52) and a sixth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:00.73), posting career best times in both events.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2016-17):

    •    Placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.15) against Indiana State and Oakland.
    •    Against IUPUI and Indiana State, finished third in the 100 breaststroke (:59.01) and sixth in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.01).
    •    Posted his top times of the season in the 100 breaststroke (:55.83) and the 200 breaststroke (2:05.25) at the Ohio State Winter Invite.

AS A FRESHMAN (2015-16):  

    •    Began the year at Dennis Stark Relay meet, earning a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 400 IM relay (:53.78 split) and 300 butterfly relay (:51.36 split), exhibitioning in the 400 medley relay (:58.92 split).
    •    Against Michigan State, touched in fourth in the 400 IM (4:14.48), fifth with the 400 medley relay (:59.76 split) and sixth in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.05).
    •    At Purdue Invitational, highest finish came in the 100 butterfly at 18th (:50.17 finals, :51.15 prelims).
    •    Also swam in 200 IM (1:57.27), 100 breaststroke (:57.85 finals, :59.81 prelims), 200 butterfly (1:57.91) and 200 breaststroke (1:53.58).
    •    At Virginia, earned fifth place with the 400 medley relay team (1:00.16 split) and exhibitioned in the 100 breaststroke (:59.66), 200 butterfly (1:56.05) and 100 butterfly (:51.01).
    •    Versus Northwestern, placed fourth with the 400 freestyle relay (:47.64 split), fifth in the 100 breaststroke (:59.31) and eighth in the 100 butterfly (:52.15).
    •    In Shamrock Invitational, touched the wall in 1:58.29 in 200 IM, :51.93 in 100 butterfly, 1:00.66 in the 100 breaststroke and 1:56.64 in the 200 butterfly, coming in 13th with 200 medley relay team (:27.37 split).
    •    Finished the year at Michigan First Chance meet, earning two seventh-place finishes in the 200 IM (1:53.63) and 100 butterfly (:49.71).

PREP & PERSONAL:

    •    Crowned U-12 High Point Champion.
    •    Qualified for national meet at age 13.
    •    Placed sixth at NCSA in 400 medley relay, swimming the breaststroke portion of the race.
    •    Named to all-state and all-league lists on three separate occasions both as a sophomore and as a junior.
    •    Won state championship as a junior with prep team.
    •    Holds state record as a member of 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
    •    Graduated from Seaholm High School in June 2015.
    •    Swam with both Birmingham Blue Dolphins and Birmingham-Bloomfield Atlantis swim clubs.
    •    Awarded two letters for water polo and four letters for swimming.
    •    Took fifth at state championship meet in 100 breaststroke as a freshman.
    •    Placed 14th in 200 IM and third as a member of 200 medley relay team.
    •    Finished third in 100 breaststroke as a sophomore, breaking the school record.
    •    Placed eighth in the 200 IM at state meet.
    •    Went on to win 200 IM as a junior at state championship.
    •    Oldest child of Scott and Danielle Russell.
    •    Cousin, Paige, also attends Notre Dame.
    •    Has one younger sister.
    •    Named an AP Scholar and has earned Academic All-State accolades on three occasions.
    •    Participated as a leader of school Field Day committee.
    •    Taught children how to swim at local YMCA.
    •    Member of National Honor Society.
