AS A SENIOR: Competed in 10 meets for the Irish, participating in the weight throw during the indoor season and the hammer throw during outdoor competition …began the season at the Blue and Gold Invitational placing first in the weight throw (17.34m) … snagged a third-place finish in the weight throw at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational (17.41m) … earned a fifth-place finish at the Notre Dame Invitational in the weight throw (17.15m) … placed eighth in the event at the Razorback Invitational (16.97m) … finished 10th at the Meyo Invitational (17.11m) … finished 15th in the weight throw at the Spire DI Invitational (16.93m) … snared third place in the weight at the Alex Wilson Invitational (17.57m) … traveled to the ACC Indoor Championships and placed 14th in the weight throw (16.87m) … snagged an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw in first action of the outdoor slate at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge (44.26m) … wrapped the season at the Georgia Tech Invitational placing 17th in the hammer throw (40.78m) … earned a monogram.

AS A JUNIOR:Competed in eight meets during the indoor/outdoor track & field season … specialized in the weight throw during the indoor portion of the season … earned an 18th place finish in the weight throw (15.70m) at the ACC Indoor Championships … recorded a season-best mark in the weight throw (17.46m) at the Alex Wilson Invitational … concluded season in lone outdoor meet – the Border Battle – participating in the hammer throw (43.02m).

AS A SOPHOMORE: Competed in the hammer throw and the weight throw during the indoor & outdoor track & field seasons … achieved a personal best in the hammer throw at the Hillsdale College GINA Relays with a distance of 44.97m … competed at the BIG EAST Indoor Track & field Championships in the weight throw and recorded a personal best of 17.79m … placed fourth at the Blue & Gold Invitational in the weight throw … earned first monogram.

AS A FRESHMAN: Competed in four meets during indoor track & field season … reached a season-high eighth place finish while posting a personal best weight throw at 15.36m at the Alex Wilson Invitational.

HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL: Ihuoma Chimela Nwaogwugwu graduated from Wheeler High School in the spring of 2011 … earned two letters in track & field and also played basketball … was named team captain as junior and senior … laundry list of extracurricular activities included Beta Club, National Honor Society, Family & Friends Section Editor and Business Manager of the school yearbook, Mu Alpha Theta Social Studies Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Duke TIP participant and marching band … earned four academic letters … won the Gold Award in Girl Scouts in 2010-11 … AfriMetro Academic Scholarship Winner … National Achievement Honorable Mention … born in Benin City, Nigeria, to Chimela and Ngozi Nwaogwugwu … has a younger sibling, Chinenye … enrolled in the College of Engineering and majoring in mechanical engineering.
