AS A FRESHMAN: Finished the year with a record of 15-3 in sabre … did not travel with team for opening weekend at the NYU Invitational and St. John[apos]s Challenge … posted a 9-1 record at the Notre Dame Duals, including going 2-0 against both Lawrence and Cleveland State … earned first collegiate victory over Tom Lorenzo of Detroit, 5-1, while also clinching the sabre victory with that decision … also clinched sabre against Lawrence with 5-3 victory over Alex Chee … went 3-0 at the Northwestern Duals, including 2-0 against Cal Tech … ended regular season with a 3-1 record at the Duke Duals, including clinching the sabre against Johns Hopkins with a 5-4 win over Max Wieder … finished first in pool at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships with a 5-1 record and a +20 indicator … entered direct elimination as the 10th seed, earning wins over Ed Paget of Northwestern, 15-6 and Fredrick Breslow of Lawrence, 15-9 … ended the tournament in 10th place.
PREP AND PERSONAL: Attended Seton Hall Prep in West Orange, N.J. … competed on the Junior Olympic and Summer National teams… biggest thrill to-date was winning the team gold medal at the Summer Nationals (2010) … made his way on to consecutive National Points lists … member of Student Government and National Honor Society … born in Newark, N.J., on November 23, 1991 … son of Carl, Sr. and Myrtle Ianiro… enrolled in the College of Arts and Letters as a sociology major with a supplemental major in history.
