AS A SENIOR: Found a seat with the second varsity four boat for the Irish during the spring season … opened up competition against Michigan State, earning a second-place finish with a time of 8:50.30 … grabbed third place the next day against both Indiana and Purdue, stopping the clock at 7:07.60 … earned two third-place results at the four-team regatta hosted by Ohio State … in the morning session, crossed after Brown and Ohio State in a time of 7:59.19 … improved in the afternoon session, stopping the clock at 7:41.21 in finishing behind Brown and Minnesota … earned gold for the Irish in the grand final at the BIG EAST Championships, defeating Syracuse, Georgetown and Louisville with a time of 7:46.132 … helped her boat to the petite finals of the open varsity four event at the South/Central Sprints … the boat was able to grab the petite final victory with a winning time of 7:03.60, after qualifying by finishing third in the prelim heat (7:15.99) and then fourth in the semifinal heat (7:12.20) … rowed with the varsity eight ‘A’ boat at the Head of the Rock Regatta where they crossed the finish line with a time of 16:37.40 … the finish was good for fifth overall and the best for the Irish team in the race … raced with the varsity eight ‘D’ boat later in the season at the Southland Regatta where the crew clocked in a time of 18:27.46 … named to the BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team.
AS A JUNIOR: Rowed all season with the varsity four crew … member of the varsity four gold boat that swept Northeastern in the spring season-opening regatta … defeated Stanford (8:38.0) at the Pac-10 Challenge in the varsity four … finished second to Michigan State and then recorded a victory against Miami (Fla.) in the varsity four … helped pace the varsity four to a first-place position at the Indiana Invite (7:17.3) … rowed to three first place finishes at the Charles River Challenge in the varsity four … helped Irish win fifth consecutive BIG EAST Championship title and sweep all six races as her varsity four crew posted a winning time of 7:43.00 … rowed on the varsity four boat that finished second in the Petite Final at the Central/South Region Championships (7:38.10) … member of the ninth-place team in the varsity eight division at Head of the Rock … placed 18th at the Cal-Sag Regatta in the varsity eight with a time of 16:44.60 … later finished third in the varsity final E with a time of 7:08.940 … selected to the BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team and earned first monogram.
AS A SOPHOMORE: Rowed with Notre Dame[apos]s second varsity four boat most the season … finished fourth with the open four crew at the Central/South Region Championship … rowed with the varsity four boa for a third place finish against Virginia ‘A’ and ‘B’ and Princeton … sat with the varsity eight crew and finished second at the Lubbers Cup, posting a 8:07.56 time … finished third with the second varsity four boat against Michigan State ‘A’ and ‘B’ and Michigan … sat in the varsity four ‘A’ boat for a win over the Irish[apos]s ‘B’ boat and Cincinnati (7:54.55) … rowed with the varsity four boat against Tennessee and Minnesota.
AS A FRESHMAN: Rowed with the second novice eight boat that earned three second-place finishes in spring regatta versus Tennessee and Minnesota … helped novice eight ‘B’ boat to first-place finish at Lubbers Cup as boat finished with a time of 7:50.72 … also rowed in the second novice eight boat at Indiana Classic … posted a ninth-place finish (20:32.01) in the novice eight at the Head of the Rock … in the open eight her boat finished 22nd … she sat in the seventh seat in both races … at the Notre Dame Invitational she raced in the novice eight and finished sixth in a time of 17:13.6.
PREP AND PERSONAL: Swam all four years of her scholastic career, helping lead the team to four undefeated seasons and four conference titles while earning four letters … qualified for the county meet in the 50 freestyle as a senior … participated in National Honor Society, German Honor Society as the secretary, Amnesty International and Student Council … daughter of Paul and Maureen Leone … oldest of four children … enrolled as a chemistry major in the College of Science.
