Rob Simpson Named Men's Lacrosse Director Of Operations

Oct. 24, 2017

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame Baumer Family Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Kevin Corrigan has announced the addition of Rob Simpson as the program’s new director of operations.

“We’re really fortunate to have Rob, you don’t usually get somebody in a role like this with his experience, knowledge, and contacts,” said Corrigan. “I’d love to have his rolodex and he’s just a terrific person that everybody in our office is very fond of. We’re just really fortunate to have all those pieces come together.

“Our guys love Rob and he’s already been very helpful to a number of them in finding opportunities professionally with a 30-year career in business. He has contacts all over the world, spending 30 years in Japan alone. He’s terrific and we’re really fortunate to have somebody like him in that position.”

Simpson is a 1985 Notre Dame graduate, earning a Bachelors of Arts degree in accounting with a minor in sociology. Simpson has spent the majority of the last 30 years living overseas in Japan, holding a number of positions as a broker and manager in the finance industry.

“After thirty years working in finance in Tokyo, Japan, I am extremely excited about joining the Notre Dame men’s Lacrosse team as director of operations,” said Simpson. “First, I would like to thank Coach Corrigan for giving me the opportunity to join the staff. I would also like to thank Coach Byrne and Coach Karweck for helping me to transition into my new role.

“Working for and learning from the one of the best staffs in men’s lacrosse is why I came back here. I wanted to challenge myself and help the team continue toward its goal of winning a national championship.”

Simpson was a standout goalie for the men’s lacrosse program during his time at Notre Dame. The alumnus was a first team All-Midwest Lacrosse Association Great Lakes Conference selection in 1985. Simpson ranks second in the Notre Dame record books for career saves with 623 and holds the Notre Dame record for season save percentage with a mark of .695 in 1984.
