(AP) – Tari Phillips of the New York Liberty and Ruth Riley of the Miami Sol have been invited to the women’s national team spring training by USA Basketball.
The training camps will be used to help choose the final seven members for the team that will play in the 2002 Women’s World Championship.
DeLisha Milton of the Los Angeles Sparks has withdrawn from the 12-member team, USA Basketball said Monday. She is competing in the EuroLeague finals with Lavezzini Basket of Italy.
Jackie Stiles, Tamika Catchings, Tamecka Dixon, Shannon Johnson, Merlakia Jones and Betty Lennox were invited earlier to work out with the national team.
The team already includes Chamique Holdsclaw, Lisa Leslie, Dawn Staley, Sheryl Swoopes and Natalie Williams.
