Relay Teams Look To Shine At Drake Relays

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — A handful of University of Notre Dame track & field student-athletes will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, this weekend to compete at the Drake Relays at Drake Stadium.

Senior standout Jade Barber will look to improve her nationally third-ranked time of 12.81 in the 100-meter hurdles. That school-record mark currently ranks second in the NCAA East Region and is tops in the Atlantic Coast Conference according to marks posted on TFRRS.com (as of April 22, 2015).

Kaila Barber and Michelle Rotondo will compete in 400-meter hurdles, while a quartet of Irish women’s relay teams will also compete. Notre Dame will field squads in the 4×100 meters, the 4×200 meters, the 4×400 meters and the spring medley relay. The Fighting Irish 4×100 relay team holds the ACC’s third-best mark (44.81), while the 4×400 squads owns the league’s second-best time (3:33.21), as well as the sixth-best time in the East Region and the ninth-best time in the country.

Also competing for the Irish women in the field will be Emily Carson in the long jump and Emily Morris in the shot put.

The Notre Dame men will field relay teams in the 4×200 meters and 4×400 meters, the latter of which ranks 11th in the region and second in the conference (3:07.50). Anthony Shivers and Dominick Padovano will each compete in the discus and hammer throw, while freshman Greg Bombara will toss the javelin.
