July 28, 2013

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame women’s swimmers Emma Reaney, Kelly Ryan and Melissa Scott are bound for the 2013 U.S. Open, which is set to take place July 30-August 3 at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, Calif.

Reaney will swim in five events – the 100 and 200 fly, the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 200 IM. Ryan is competing in three – the 100 and 200 back and the 100 free, while Scott will swim in the 200 fly. The meet is a long course competition, with all events measured in meters.

A seven-time All-American, Reaney will swim in one event a day, beginning with the 200 fly Tuesday. The prelims begin at 9 a.m. each day and conclude with the finals at 5 p.m.

The meet will be the second big national meet of the summer for Reaney and Ryan as they both competed at the Phillips 66 National Championships in late June. Reaney turned in a strong showing against the country’s elite by earning a pair of 11th place finishes and competing in the “B” finals of the 100 breast and 200 IM.

Complete meet results will be available on UND.com, Facebook.com/NDwSwimmingDiving or Twitter (@NDwSwimming).
