Ratay Earns Big East Rookie Of The Week Honors For Second Time This Season

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Notre Dame freshman guard Alicia Ratay (Lake Zurich, Ill.), the team’s leading scorer at 16.5 ppg., has been named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after she scored a game-high 27 points in a 68-62 win over Florida International at the Orange Bowl Women’s Basketball Fab Four on December 19.

The 5-11 guard, who has led the Irish in scoring in four of eight games this season, earned game MVP honors against the Golden Panthers as she hit nine-of-15 field goals from the field, including a five-for-seven performance from three-point range. Ratay also had five steals and five rebounds in the game.

Ratay is tied for second on the team with 4.9 rebounds per game and leads the team in minutes played (33.1). She also has connected on 51.1 percent of her shots (44-86) from the field and is 20-42 (.476) from three-point range.
