Rae Named BIG EAST Men's Track Athlete Of The Week

April 23, 2013

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Following a standout performance in the 1,500m run this past week at the Mt. SAC Relays, University of Notre Dame track standout Jeremy Rae has been named the BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Rae finished fourth out of 17 runners in the elite 1,500m run at last Friday’s Mt. SAC Relays in a time of 3:41.45. The time was the third best among college runners and was just 1.18 seconds behind the winner.

The time places the Fort Erie, Ontario native first in the BIG EAST, second in the NCAA East Region and seventh in the nation in the event.

Rae is making his return to the track after missing the entire indoor season with an injury. Last year he won two BIG EAST outdoor titles in the 1,500m and the 4x800m relay and competed in the 1,500m at the NCAA East Preliminary Round.

The Irish return to action this week and weekend when they compete at the Drake Relays and the Hillsdale Gina Relays (April 26-27).
