Saturday, Sept. 10 –  Notre Dame vs. Navy – Noon ET (Live Stats)

SETTING THE STAGE 

• Notre Dame travels to Norfolk, Virginia for their second road trip of the year as they take on East Carolina, Old Dominion, and Navy. This will be the first time in program history that the Irish have played each of these teams. 

• The Irish meet East Carolina on Friday, Sept. 9 at noon, followed by a match up with Old Dominion on Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET. On Saturday, Sept. 10, the Irish will take on Navy at noon. 

• Friday’s match against Old Dominion will be streamed live on ESPN+.

HISTORY VS. EAST CAROLINA 

• Friday will be the first ever meeting between the Irish and the Pirates.

• The Pirates are coming off of three losses in the Duke Invitational last weekend as ECU fell to East Tennessee State (2-3) and Northeastern (1-3) on Friday, Sept. 2 and Duke (0-3) on Saturday, Sept. 3.

HISTORY VS. OLD DOMINION

• The Irish and Monarchs meet for the first time in program history on Friday. 

• Old Dominion is coming off of two wins and a loss in the Virginia Tech Invitational last weekend. The Monarchs defeated Marist (3-1) and Coppin State (3-1) on Friday, Sept. 2 and fell to Virginia Tech (0-3) on Saturday, Sept. 3. 

HISTORY VS. NAVY

• Friday will be the first ever meeting between the Irish and the Midshipmen.

• The Midshipmen hosted the Kristen Dickmann Invitational where Navy fell to VCU (1-3) on Thursday, Sept. 1 and Michigan State (1-3) on Friday, Sept. 2. Navy took down UAlbany in a 3-1 victory on Saturday, Sept. 3.

LAST WEEKEND’S LONG BEACH STATE TOURNAMENT 

• The Irish finished 0-2 in the Long Beach State Tournament in the first road trip of the 2022 season as they fell in four sets on Friday to Boise State (18-25, 25-13, 18-25, 18-25) and three sets on Saturday to Long Beach State (21-25, 23-25, 23-25). 

Freshman Lucy Trump led the Irish with 25 kills and 20 digs on the weekend. 

• Freshman Avery Ross recorded 12 kills with a .407 hitting percentage in Saturday’s match against Long Beach State. She also recorded 15 digs and four blocks. 

  Phyona Schrader finished with a career-high 42 assists against Boise State and has now recorded 123 assists so far this year. This followed her triple-double performance in the win over Milwaukee, which is the first triple-double since Rebbeca Nunge did it against Louisville on Nov. 9, 2016. Schrader finished with 11 kills, 13 digs, and 33 assists in the victory over the Panthers. 

• Junior libero Hattie Monson finished the weekend with 38 digs and is averaging 5.16 digs per set so far this season.
