  • This was the second time that Xavier and Notre Dame met in the NCAA Championship. The sixth-seeded Fighting Irish topped the 11th-seeded Musketeers, 83-71, in the first round of the 2001 tournament. That was the last meeting between the two schools prior to tonight.
