Notre Dame vs. Northern Illinois
December 8, 2007

Notre Dame Head Coach Mike Brey
On the winning streak:
“I am really proud of the team. I shook all their hands individually. I loved that three different teams were a part of it.”

“The players were focused on the streak. I was worried at first but we were confident after the Kansas State game.”

On the play of the Irish:
“I thought we were ready to play. There was a lot of energy in the arena and we really fed off of it. We were in a rhythm. 27 assists shows we were amazingly unselfish. We continued to run the floor tonight. It wears them down.”

“We are doing a good job of understanding how to help each other out on defense. I like how we are playing in the zone. We will use it a lot this season.”

Northern Illinois Head Coach Ricardo Patton

On Notre Dame’s shooting:
“This is the first time I’ve coached in a game where the managers came in and made shots. Everyone made shots for them. You’ve got to give Notre Dame credit. They’re a good basketball team.”

“I was surprised as the game went on how good their shooting continued to be, even with the backups.”

“Notre Dame really showed us what Big East basketball was all about, with their size and strength.”

On Notre Dame’s early lead:
“We scored early in the game too. It wasn’t a runaway game. But the floodgates burst when they started raining threes. We were lost in transition.”

“We know our program is a work in progress. Every experience is a learning experience. We’ll get better.”

“Their zone defense stymied us.”

On Notre Dame’s shooting big men:
“Notre Dame is a complete team. They’ve got every position covered. It makes them very hard to defend.”

Sophomore Luke Harangody
On looking forward to this game:
“I think we were looking forward to this game. It was really important to us. Some of the guys on the team will appreciate this a couple years from now when we look back. It’s a big deal considering how good the team was that set this record previously. We were really excited about getting this win.”

On the team breaking the next record:
“I think we should go for it. Why not, we are on a good streak right now. We love playing at home. It’s never easy; it’s always a battle. “

On rotating eight players and everyone getting in the game:
“It was a great time. Everyone scored and it was really nice that the walk-ons got a chance to get in. It was really fun.”

Senior Rob Kurz
On the performance of the team:
“I think we came in with a lot of confidence. We shot the ball really well early on. We played really efficient offensively. Many of the guys contributed, and we were on a great rhythm offensively.”

On the consistent improvement of the team offensively:
“We have been getting better offensively. Tonight was one of our best nights. We have always been known as a team that can score. It was fitting for us to break the record tonight.”
