Head Coach Mike Brey

On the fan turnout
“I saw a lot of good things tonight. Especially our crowd. I love that our fans come out. Our crowd was really behind us tonight.”

On Eastern Michigan…
“They were very aggressive, tough and physical. So we had to give up a few things. (Brandon) Dobbins was a big threat and of course defending the three-point line was tough too.”.

On the team’s overall play
“Looking at something like single-digit turnovers shows we had a productive night. The flow of the game was excellent. We end and started both halves really well. The guys did a heck of a job tonight.”

On Kyle McAlarney
“I am feeling great about Kyle. The team is really finding him and he is getting into a groove. I think some people underestimate what its like to miss half a season of Division I play. So it’s really a process for him, especially these last thee games have been therapeutic for Kyle.”

On the next game vs. Kansas State…
“Our team has been showing a lot of improvement and playing Kansas State will be a big challenge. If you’re watching it on TV, it’ll be classic. But no one is really talking about us because there are three other teams at the tournament. We are king of just there. Our team plays fearlessly in Madison Square Garden. We’ve got two days to tune up.”

Notre Dame Player Quotes

Sophomore F Luke Harangody

On the effort of Eastern Michigan’s Justin Dobbins…
“He’s a good player. He was able to get into the blocks a little bit and get us out of our rhythm. He was able to get some nice shots and got some nice bounces.”

On the defensive effort…
“I actually thought we were pretty good at the defensive end. Our main goal tonight was to get out on the 3-point shooters and I thought we definitely got them out of their rhythm. I thought we did a good job on the defensive end and that propelled our offense.”

On where the team stands going into the game against Kansas State…
“I think that these three home games were a big 3 games for us and we got some confidence. I think that we are finding out who we are especially on the defensive end. I think we are now beginning to click and now we have a big game on Tuesday at the Garden.”

Junior G Kyle McAlarney

On the team’s effort…
“They’re a really good team. A lot of their shots were 3-point shots and they can really get on a role shooting those 3-pointers so we really had to defend and lock down.”

On the defensive effort…
“We ended the half very well and started the half well. We ended the half with a couple of stops and started the second half with a couple more consecutive stops. That’s really important to us. If we can get a couple of stops in a row our energy gets really high and our offense gets into the game and that’s good for us on the offensive end.”

Sophomore G Tory Jackson

On what Tuesday’s game against Kansas State means…
“This game is a huge step for us. It is a big challenge for us. If we get a big win out here a lot of people are going to be looking at us again. We’re under the radar again right now just like every year, which is fine with us. We don’t have to worry about so much attention and a lot of jealousy. You don’t have to worry about that here. It’s a team atmosphere here.”

On tying the 24-game home winning streak record:
“It a great accomplishment tying it. There have been some great teams that have come through here and played here. For us to break the streak and be a part of it is an honor. So it doesn’t mean anything until we break that streak. Tying it is a good accomplishment but breaking it is our main goal.”
