The University of Notre Dame has announced plans for a public celebration honoring the national champion women’s basketball team, to be held the afternoon of Sunday, April 8, in the Joyce Center Arena.

The event is free of charge and open to the public. The event, which begins at 3:00 p.m., will be part of the formal team banquet that is closed to the public, with fans able to view portions of the banquet proceedings-including highlight videos and speeches from the senior players and head coach Muffet McGraw.

The national championship trophies also will be on display at the event.

The team was welcomed back to campus by a large group of wellwishers at 2:30 a.m. on the morning of Monday, April 2, just hours after defeating Purdue, 68-66, in the national championship game.
