NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Tommy Wilson, currently the academy director for Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Philadelphia Union and an experienced international coach, has been added as a featured clinician for the 2015 National Soccer Coaching Seminar, scheduled for March 6-7 on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.

The annual coaching seminar will again feature a panel of distinguished clinicians taking part in the two-day event, including Wilson, longtime United States Men’s National Team member Eddie Lewis, Notre Dame men’s head coach and 2013 NCAA champion Bobby Clark, and Fighting Irish women’s head coach Theresa Romagnolo.

A native of Paisley, Scotland, Wilson enjoyed a lengthy playing career with the likes of Queen’s Park, St. Mirren, Dunfermline Athletic, Heart of Midlothian, Kilmarnock and Dumbarton from 1978-94. Wilson logged over 450 domestic league match appearances during his senior career, and was an integral member of the St. Mirren squad that captured the 1987 Scottish Cup. He also represented his country with the Under-21 Scotland Men’s National Team in 1982.

Transitioning to administrative roles following his playing career, Wilson first headed up the Scottish Football Association (SFA) youth development program from 2000-04, later serving as the head of coaching and education for the SFA from 2004-06. In that time he served as a Scottish National Team coach from 2004 until 2007, leading Scotland’s U-19 team to the European Championship final in 2006 and the U-20 squad to the FIFA U-20 World Cup final in 2007.

Prior to taking his current position with the Philadelphia Union, Wilson spent eight years as the academy technical director and reserve team manager for the Rangers Football Club in Scotland from 2006-13.
