Perry And Maund Earn All-Region Honors

Dec. 10, 2010

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame men’s soccer players Steven Perry (Edmond, Okla./Bishop McGuinness) and Aaron Maund (Dorchester, Mass./The Roxbury Latin School) have earned All-Great Lakes Region honors for the 2010 campaign from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Perry, a senior forward, was a second-team pick, while Maund, a junior defender, was named to the third team.

Perry posted team-high and career-high numbers in goals (12) and points (28) during the 2010 season. His four assists also were a career-high total. Perry started all 20 matches for the Irish and was a unanimous all-BIG EAST first-team pick. He registered three two-goal games and had five game-winning tallies. Perry collected at least one point in 10 of the final 13 contests of the season. This was the first all-region accolade for the senior forward.

Maund, who also earned a third-team all-region nod last year, was the only Fighting Irish player to play every minute on the pitch this season. The central defender anchored Notre Dame’s backline and helped the Irish defense post six shutouts and limit opponents to a 0.95 goals-against average. In addition to his defensive efforts, Maund notched a goal and two assists. He was named to the all-BIG EAST second team.

In 2010, Notre Dame posted a 10-6-4 overall record and finished second in the BIG EAST Blue Division with a 6-2-1 league mark. The Fighting Irish were semifinalists at the BIG EAST Championship and garnered the No. 9 seed in the NCAA Championship. Notre Dame fell to Dartmouth, 2-1 in overtime, during the second round of the NCAA tournament.
