Perkovic Honored as Postgraduate Scholarship Recipient

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame men’s lacrosse senior midfielder Sergio Perkovic added another distinguishment to his already long list of accomplishments, as he was named an honorary recipient of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Weaver-James-Corrigan Award. The award is part of the ACC’s postgraduate scholarship program.

Perkovic is the only men’s lacrosse player in the ACC to receive the scholarship.

The Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, native has been a standout both on and off the field for the Irish in his four-year career at Notre Dame. Perkovic earned first team All-American honors in each of the last two years on the team. As a junior (2016), he was named to the All-ACC Team and All-ACC Academic Team.

Perkovic led the Irish to an appearance in the NCAA Championship final (2014), the NCAA Championship semifinals (2015) and NCAA Championship quarterfinals (2016) as well as the 2014 ACC Tournament title. He was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2014 and 2015.

The senior is a two-time All-ACC selection (2015, 2016). The midfielder has started every game (49) of his Irish career and has scored 90 goals, which ranks ninth in program history.

In the classroom Perkovic has a cumulative GPA of 3.67 while pursuing a finance degree in the Mendoza College of Business. He has been a member of the Dean’s List on four occasions and is a three-time ACC All-Academic recipient. Perkovic also served on the NCAA Competition Oversight Committee as the lone student representative in 2015-16.

The senior is also involved in the community, as Perkovic has been a mentor at Dickinson Fine Arts Academy, a local middle school, for the last three years. For the efforts the Notre Dame men’s lacrosse program was presented the ACC/United Way “Game Changers” Award. Perkovic also took part in the Rosenthal Leadership Academy.
