NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame men’s lacrosse senior midfielder Sergio Perkovic has been named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week after he helped lead the Irish to an 11-10 overtime victory over Virginia on Saturday, March 18 in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The award marks the fourth career ACC Offensive Player of the Week honor for Perkovic, who was tabbed by nearly every media outlet as a preseason first team All-American.
Perkovic tied for the team lead in goals in the overtime win over Virginia, scoring a season-high three times to lead the Irish to the victory. Perkovic was efficient, scoring his three goals off just five shots. The types of goals the senior scored were impressive, as all came from long-range efforts. Perkovic now has 95 goals in his Irish career, the most in program history from a midfielder.
The senior has seen his name on a number of honors in the 2017 campaing. Perkovic has been named as a Senior CLASS Award nominee and has been selected to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. The midfielder has also earned an Honorary ACC Postgraduate Scholarship, becoming the only lacrosse player to receive the distinction.
Over his four years at Notre Dame the Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, native has been a standout both on and off the field for the Irish. Perkovic earned first team All-American honors in each of the last two years on the team. As a junior (2016), he was named to the All-ACC Team and All-ACC Academic Team.
Perkovic led the Irish to an appearance in the NCAA Championship final (2014), the NCAA Championship semifinals (2015) and NCAA Championship quarterfinals (2016) as well as the 2014 ACC Tournament title. He was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2014 and 2015. The senior is also a two-time All-ACC selection (2015, 2016).
In the classroom Perkovic has a cumulative GPA of 3.67 while pursuing a finance degree in the Mendoza College of Business. He has been a member of the Dean’s List on four occasions and is a three-time ACC All-Academic recipient. Perkovic also served on the NCAA Competition Oversight Committee as the lone student representative in 2015-16.
The senior is also involved in the community, as Perkovic has been a mentor at Dickinson Fine Arts Academy, a local middle school, for the last three years. For the efforts the Notre Dame men’s lacrosse program was presented the ACC/United Way “Game Changers” Award. Perkovic also took part in the Rosenthal Leadership Academy.
Perkovic has already accepted a position at Credit Suisse that will begin this summer following graduation.
The Irish return home to Arlotta Stadium after spending the last week on the road. Notre Dame hosts undefeated No. 4 Ohio State on Saturday, March 25 at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.

Robby Hamman joined Fighting Irish Media as athletics communications assistant director in September 2016, coordinating efforts for the volleyball and men’s lacrosse program. Hamman is a 2010 graduate of Bethel College, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in sport management and business administration, and earned his master’s degree in business administration from Defiance College in 2013.
