NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame men’s lacrosse senior midfielder Sergio Perkovic and junior long stick midfielder John Sexton have earned Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors after the team’s dominating 12-7 win over No. 4 Ohio State on Saturday.

Perkovic received ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week accolades while Sexton picked up ACC Defensive Player of the Week recognition. The award marks the fifth career ACC Offensive Player of the Week honor for Perkovic and the second ACC Defensive Player of the Week for Sexton.

Perkovic led the team lead in goals in the win with a hat trick, scoring three times against the Buckeyes. The senior added an assist to finish with a season-high four points. The midfielder has now posted hat tricks in back-to-back outings and has recorded 16 in his Notre Dame career. Perkovic now has 10 goals on the season and 98 in his career.

Sexton did it all for the Irish on Saturday, putting in an impressive shift on the defensive end while also making an impact in the attack. The junior helped the Irish defense lock down No. 4 Ohio State’s attack, as the team allowed just seven goals, including only two in the second half. Sexton caused two turnovers and led the team with a season-high five ground balls against the Buckeyes. The LSM also registered his first goal and assist of the season en route to a career-high two points.

The win pushed Notre Dame to the top of the national polls, as the Irish enter the week ranked No. 1 in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, the Maverick Media Poll and the NCAA RPI.

The Irish will be back at Arlotta on Saturday, April 1 as they play their ACC home opener against Syracuse at Noon. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
