Pair Of Irish Freshmen Ranked Nationally By Perfect Game

Jan. 16, 2015

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame baseball freshman pitchers Peter Solomon and Brad Bass are both ranked in Perfect Game’s list of the top 100 college freshmen released Friday.

Solomon, who is ranked 87th, and Bass, tabbed 95th, both heard their names called in last June’s Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. The San Diego Padres selected Solomon in the 21st round, while the Chicago Cubs picked Bass in the 33rd round.

Hailing from Ellicott City, Maryland, Solomon (6-4, 178 lbs.) was ranked the second best RHP in his state – and the seventh best overall player – by Perfect Game following his senior year.

A 6-5 ½, 238-pound righty from New Lenox, Illinois native, Bass was ranked the second best RHP in his state – and the fifth best overall player – by Perfect Game after his senior campaign.

The Perfect Game top-100 college freshman rankings are based on the players’ professional potential relative to the MLB Draft and not based on performance.
