Page Freeman Earns ACC Player of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Page Freeman was named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Player of the Week for her performance last week. It’s the first Player of the Week award for Freeman in her career, and the first won by the Irish this season.

Freeman finished the week 3-1 with two wins over top 20-ranked opponents. In singles play, she started the week taking the 13-ranked player, Elizabeth Scotty of North Carolina in the country to three sets. She followed that by defeating 19th-ranked Georgia Drummy from Duke in three sets.

In doubles action, she teamed with Maria Olivia Castedo where they soundly knocked off the second-ranked doubles team of Fiona Crawley and Scotty, 6-2. She added another doubles victory over Duke’s Drummy and Karolina Berankova, 6-2.

Freeman and the Irish are back on the courts next Sunday as they head to Louisville for a matchup with the Cardinals at 1 p.m.
