TUESDAY – FULL SPRING RECAP (4-21-09) 12:30 p.m. ET

As promised, we put together one page with all of our video links from the spring football practice coverage. You can check it out by clicking here.

Also, the Notre Dame – Northwestern softball game today has been called off due to inclement weather. No word on a rescheduled date for the game. The next live events on und.com will be softball vs. North Dakota State on Wednesday, April 22 at 5 p.m. and baseball against Michigan that same day at 6 p.m.

SATURDAY – BLUE-GOLD GAME RECAP (4-18-09) 7:00 p.m. ET

It has been a long day for the und.com video crew, but everything is up and ready to be viewed on the site. One of the more competitive and enjoyable Blue-Gold Games this group can remember – so have fun watching everything we have to offer today.

First things first, everyone wants to see which provides a look at the traditonal ‘highlights.’

For post game coverage, we have and interviews with and .

The football program provided us with a little special access as well, as we mic’d up honorary coaches to see what they had to say to the Irish on the sidelines.

Finally, a still in production is a ‘day-in-the-life’ feature on Golden Tate, who caught a pass and returned a punt in the Blue-Gold Game before heading to Frank Eck Stadium to bat second for the Fighting Irish baseball team. That package will be posted here as soon as it is completed.

WEDNESDAY – A LOOK AT THINGS TO COME (4-15-09) 12 noon ET

Here is a quick update on some of the plans and events we have coming up on und.com. Today, we venture off campus for the first time for a live event broadcast – bringing you as it takes on Northwestern at U.S. Cellular Field. The game will begin at 7 p.m. CT, 8 p.m. ET time.

Today will be the final spring practice report of the year (Friday’s workout is closed to the media). We will focus on the fifth-year players (who were just recently approved for their fifth year by the University) and the three mid-year players who joined the roster this spring.

We are also ramping up for our Blue-Gold Scrimmage coverage. The Daily Dish (linked above) will be providing blog updates throughout the weekend, as there are several key events happening from Thursday through the rest of the weekend. For the scrimmage itself, WSBT is broadcasting audio play-by-play of the game and that can be heard right here on und.com. We will also have post-scrimmage coverage of the press conferences, game highlights, a package on our honorary coaches (who will be wearing und.com microphones throughout the contest) and other features covering the end of the spring workout schedule for the Fighting Irish football team.

TUESDAY – CATCHING UP ON FOOTBALL COVERAGE (4-7-09) 2:45 p.m. ET

As promised, we wanted to make the Video Blog a one-stop shop for all of the football content we have produced this spring. Here are some links to catch you up with everything since the open practice on March 28 (scroll down for the previous spring football content).

Tomorrow (Wednesday, April 8) we will take a closer look at the defensive line and GA Bryant Young as he works with the group. The team then takes the long weekend off for Easter break and returns to the practice field on Wednesday, April 15. Our focus that day will be on the three mid-year freshman players who joined the Irish in January. Those players also wil be available to the media for the fist time after that workout.

MONDAY – IRISH BASKETBALL BACK IN NEW YORK (3-30-09) 7:45 p.m. ET

The Irish basketball team is back in New York for the NIT Semifinals – taking on Penn State Tuesday night. Und.com is in the Big Apple with the team – and to be honest, it was a frustrating day for the und.com video crew. The basketball team is having a great time, but the internet just has not been cooperative with the und.com video crew. In the end, the content was eventually published, but blame the very old internet system at the Marriott Marquis for the problems.

Enough complaining – here are the things you will want to check out today. of the day’s activities – then spoke to , and at the NIT press conference – at which .

We also caught up with and we spoke to the after practice.

Tomorrow, we will have full post game coverage – the NIT still will not let us post any highlights – but we will be there for the post-game reaction and hopefully stay a couple more days following the team in New York.

SATURDAY – FOOTBALL OPEN PRACTICE VIDEOS (3-28-09) 8:22 p.m. ET

We’re committed to bringing you the best coverage of Notre Dame football anywhere on the internet – and we challenge you to find more content available – for free – of today’s open practice. Sit back and enjoy it – as we had three cameras running for everything today, including both views of the enjoyable ‘Irish Eyes’ drill. Here is a complete list – 11 videos from football just today.

  • H. Smith Interview

Whew. Keep an eye on this space over the next few days – we will have updates from NCAA Regional Hockey, the NIT semifinals for men’s basketball and continuing football coverage.

SATURDAY – JUST ANOTHER DAY FOR und.com CREW (3-28-09) 11:40 a.m. ET

Again it is another busy day for the und.com video crew. Today on campus, we have football practice. But, this is not just the typical practice. UND.com and all of the media outlets that cover the fighting Irish are allowed to watch, and film the entire practice session. Check back to und.com as we will post items as we complete the video packages.

Be sure to watch the videos as the Notre Dame hockey team talked with the media and completed a 60 minute workout at Van Andel Arena in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Irish take on Bemidji State in the first round of the Midwest Regional. Notre Dame hockey can be heard live on Cat Country 99.9 FM in South Bend. Darin Pritchett will call the action for the Irish, and is available on und.com by. The game can also be seen on ESPN Classic with the puck dropping at 7:30 p.m. ET.

TUESDAY – GETTING CAUGHT UP ON THINGS (3-23-09) 6:00 p.m. ET

This is perhaps the busiest time of the year for the Notre Dame Athletic Department and the und.com video crew. The overlap between the winter sports in post season play combined with the spring sports well into their home schedules lead to long days – and even longer nights keeping up with everything going on in Irish Athletics. While women’s basketball just wrapped up their season, the men’s team is still in action in the NIT, the Irish hockey team is fresh off its Mason Cup Championship and looking ahead to NCAA Regional action this weekend, the baseball, softball and lacrosse teams are in the thick of their seasons and fencing is fresh off its second-place finish at the national championship meet.

Both tennis teams are still in action, both golf teams are out there competing and track and field is ready to kick off their outdoor campaign. Needless to say, there is too much going on for the und.com video crew to keep up with it all.

Oh, and there is one more thing happening as well. The Notre Dame football team is three practices into its 15-work out schedule this spring. We have been there every day, providing our traditional practice reports and post-practice interviews. We have tweaked our practice reports in the spring, trying to streamline the information provided by Jack Nolan and focusing on a different aspect of practice in place of jumping around to different areas in each report.

So far this spring, our practice reports have focused on on day one, on day two and on day three. The reports are designed for those that want a quick look at each practice to get the information and glimpse they are looking for, while the rest of the video will be longer stretches of video concentrating on what subject we choose to cover that day.

Coach Weis kicked off the interview portion of the spring practice schedule at noon on the first day of workouts. Since then, we have interviewed – and we here at und.com would like to welcome Walls back to the roster this spring. We also sat down for a bit of a longer interview with soon-to-be-senior to see how things are going under the new tutelage of Coach Verducci.

Speaking of Coach Verducci, he after practice on March 23 – his first post-practice meeting with the local media. also stopped by that day and was a bit surprised that there were so many media members there to speak with him. You can see at the beginning of video that he is laughing at the number of reporters there after a spring workout.

Our final interview so far was a combined video with – Ragone is getting back into top form after missing last season with a knee injury, while Floyd will have to enter the 2009 season with expectations now, instead of being a talented, but unknown first-year player.

Coach Weis was scheduled to meet with the media on Monday, March 23, but was a bit under the weather. While he still was there at practice, he decided to push his media appointment to Saturday. In addition, due to the basketball team facing Kentucky in the NIT on Wednesday, March 24, that post-practice interview session has been moved to Saturday. We will have a practice report for everyone on Wednesday, however.

We also want to bring some attention to our coverage of the Irish hockey team. Ranked #1 in the nation and in possession of the second overall seed in the NCAA Championship, the Irish are ready to begin competition in the NCAA regional on Saturday. We will have a crew up in Grand Rapids, Mich., to keep you up to speed on everything the Irish are up to as they try to make it to the Frozen Four for the second consecutive season. The hockey team is a great partner to und.com – as you can see they let our as they wrapped up their 5-2 victory over Michigan to earn the program’s second Mason Cup. You can also watch the and a as the team scored five unanswered goals to down the Wolverines.

We were also there for the NCAA selection announcement – . Be sure to visit und.com every day this week – we will have live baseball, softball and lacrosse coverage and this Saturday football’s practice is completely open to und.com’s cameras – we will have complete coverage of that workout as well.

SATURDAY – FOOTBALL SPRING DAY TWO (3-21-09) 3:20 p.m. ET

The day two videos from football’s second spring workout are up and running on und.com. For we took a close look at new DL coach Randy Hart and his coaching style (we’ll have Frank Verducci on Monday – following covering Tony Alford on Friday).

After practice, we caught up with with two quick interviews. Und.com’s Jack Nolan also spent some time with .

Football returns to the practice field in full pads on Monday – and we’ll be there as usual. In the meantime, we will have full coverage of the women’s basketball team as they take on Minnesota in the first round of the NCAA Championship on campus. Of course we are also psyched for the CCHA Championship game tonight (audio coverage link available below). Oh, and we have live coverage of baseball and softball on Sunday as well (click on ‘Live Events’ on the front page of und.com).

SATURDAY – HOCKEY GOES FOR THE CCHA CHAMPIONSHIP (3-21-09) 12:20 a.m. ET

Its the Wolverines and Fighting Irish squaring off for the 2009 Mason Cup, LIVE from Joe Louis Arena. The puck from at 7:35 pm ET with WSBT Radio’s Darin Pritchett calling all the action from the 2009 CCHA Championship Game.

Remember to keep an eye on the front page of und.com (or the ‘Live Events’ tab) to catch baseball in action today – and the hockey audio broadcast from the CCHA Championship.

UPDATE – Our of the spring is up and running. We’ll be back out there on Saturday morning as well. For Friday’s report, we gave a quick look at the new coaches on the Irish staff, then gave a concentrated look at new RB coach Tony Alford putting his group through drills. Saturday, we will focus on new DL coach Randy Hart.

FRIDAY – SPRING FOOTBALL STARTS! (3-20-09) 1:50 p.m. ET

Hockey in the CCHAs… Baseball BIG EAST Home Opener …. W. Lacrosse at home this weekend …. Softball BIG EAST Home Opener this weekend … oh, and football starts spring practice. Just another day for the und.com video crew! to kick off spring practice is available now. A podcast of the presser is also available. The first practice report will be posted here later today.

MONDAY – IRISH IN THE BIG APPLE (3-9-09) 4:35 p.m. ET

The und.com crew was able to make the trip the New York with the men’s basketball team, fresh off of its coverage of the women’s team in their BIG EAST Championship. We have a one-stop shop for all of the information coming out of New York (and from Hartford over the weekend) at our official BIG EAST Championship page. While the Northern Indiana area is digging out from an overnight lake-effect snow storm, Notre Dame’s spring sports begin full action this weekend across the country – and in the Loftus Sports Center.

Softball and both lacrosse teams officially began the spring seasons a little over a week ago. The men’s and women’s lacrosse teams picked up two victories, while the softball team took on #1 Alabama on its home field twice in its first weekend.

This weekend, the Irish baseball team takes the field for the first time in the inaugural BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge which is taking place all across the Tampa, Fla., area. You can listen/watch men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, women’s lacrosse and hockey – all free of charge – on und.com over the next four days.

The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are heading to the BIG EAST Championship this week as well. FRIDAY – FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENTS, M. BASKETBALL WHACKS LOUISVILLE (2-13-09) 3:30 p.m. ET

This is one of those days when having the video blog comes in handy, as we don’t have enough space on und.com to give our fans a concise listing of our latest video offerings. The football team held a series of media sessions on Friday morning to update everyone on the developments with the coaching staff. We were there to cover it all, and here are the videos you are going to want to watch –

That should catch everyone up on the coaching staff developments – and of course we will keep you up to date when the Irish begin spring practice on March 20.

The Irish men’s basketball team posted one of its most memorable wins of the Mike Brey Era last night when it blew past #5/7 Louisville by 33 points to break their seven-game win streak. Und.com was there to cover everything and you can watch , and .

TUESDAY – GEORGETOWN GOES DOWN IN THE JOYCE CENTER (1-6-09) 2:15 p.m. ET

Welcome to a new year for the Irish, their fans and our favorite Notre Dame faithful – those that visit und.com. Things are a tad slow on the Notre Dame athletics end (compared to a very busy fall season), but it is really just the calm before the storm. Soon, we will be into baseball, softball and lacrosse seasons – as well as spring football.

But we can’t look too far ahead, as the Irish basketball and hockey teams are giving Notre Dame fans a memorable winter season. It is no secret that this has been an unusually cold winter in Northern Indiana, but the play of the men’s basketball, women’s basketball and top-ranked Irish hockey team make it bearable at some level.

Here at und.com we are committed to following these programs as close as possible over the next three months – and it is not a stretch to say that we have the most complete coverage of every Irish sport on the web.

In just an hour after Notre Dame’s huge win over Georgetown to extend its winning streak on the Joyce Center floor to 44 games (the nation’s best current streak), we had full coverage available for free here on und.com. We posted , a selection of and the official .

We also make every effort to keep up with the Irish when they were on the road. While many across the country do not get ESPNU, we were able to put together from the Garden on Saturday. While it is not the most enjoyable thing to watch the Irish lose, at least it will give those that could only listen to the game an idea of what happened in New York.

The Irish hockey team is coming off a clean sweep at the Shillelagh Tournament outside Chicago, Illinois. Notre Dame defeated Union and Minnesota-Duluth during the two-day event. Due to travel for the holidays, we were unable to get a video crew to the event, but we made sure we caught up with , and upon their return to campus. We will also be broadcasting both games of Notre Dame’s CCHA series with Alaska this weekend.

MONDAY – THE BYE WEEK BEGINS (10-13-08) 12 noon ET

The Irish have reached the halfway mark of the season and are sitting with a solid 4-2 record. While some people might take solace in that mark, if you he is simply disappointed that the team has lost two games.

All the armchair quarterbacks have their theories on what should have been done, could have been done, whether it was a fumble or not. You can again – and we here at und.com just would like to remind you that that is a sophomore quarterback completing passes to a sophomore wide receiver and a true freshman wide receiver.

We also produced our weekly , taking appropriate comments from Coach Weis during his wrap up press conference can finding the video from the game that fits.

Finally, the latest version of is up and ready to be viewed.

This week the football information will be somewhat limited due to the bye week. The Irish will practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, while several freshmen, who have only spoken to the media once this year, will be available after practice on Wednesday afternoon. We will be there to get as much time with the rookies as we can.

And when the bye week arrives, it is always a good time to not only look ahead at the second half of the football season, but what is up with Notre Dame’s other varsity sports. Believe it or not, basketball is getting ready to start. We will have media day coverage of both the men’s and women’s team on Tuesday.

Here is something that might have slipped through the cracks as well – take a look back at the Ireland trip for the men’s basketball team with and post-trip interviews with and .

THURSDAY – CAN THE IRISH WIN ON THE ROAD? (10-9-08) 5:30 p.m. ET

Can the Irish win on the road? It is a question the media has been asking the players all week and the query that Coach Weis has challenged his team with all week. Much like the Purdue game two weeks ago, this weekend’s game could prove to be a key turning point for the team this season. are certainly ready for the game – sophomore Kerry Neal and junior Raeshon McNeil. Freshman Robert Blanton is also from North Carolina, but the freshmen have been limited to the media until the bye week, which is coming up after this weekend.

We also uploaded media session from Wednesday evening. The Irish offensive coordinator seemed upbeat and ready for the challenge of a balanced and explosive offense from the Tar Heels. You can check out the held today in the Gug as well.

THURSDAY – OVERFLOWING WITH VIDEO CONTENT (10-2-08) 11:30 a.m. ET

We are going to make up for the lack of a post yesterday – we were too busy cranking out video productions to make a post, but hey – we will give you direct links to everything we have done the past two days…

First off, through our great relationship with NBC Sports, they provide us with the video cut downs of each Irish home game – you can watch the Purdue game right now quarter-by-quarter starting with , the , the and a dominating defensive performance by the Irish in .

Our two signature original pieces of content each week are the und.com Pregame Show and the Series Retrospective, both of which are presented by our friends from Allstate. For those in a time crunch, we cut the pregame show into portions – you , or just , the and .

For the series retrospective, we took a look back at when the Irish defeated Stanford 21-14. Lost in the final score were two great plays by the Irish in that game – the legendary catch by David Grimes in the endzone that inexplicably was called a non-catch by the replay official – and the end-of-the-first-half run back of an interception by David Bruton, Tom Zbikowski and Darrin Walls. Even though yet another bad call by the officials led to the play getting negated, it is still fun to watch.

Of course we have our usual weekly coverage of the football team going on as well – the and the are up and running now. We also have post practice interviews with a bevy of Irish players – , , , and . For the assistant coaching perspective, we have – and are working on the media session with Corwin Brown right now – it will be up later this afternoon.

Sunday, we covered with Coach Weis and produced with based on the comments from Coach Weis on Sunday. Some weekends, the film study could be long – some weeks, if Coach does not speak of items, players or plays that lend themselves to video, the film study ends up short.

Monday, the und.com video crew takes a bit of a break (a semi-off day – the only one of the week) but we did get out to the at Villa Macri’s. This week’s show featured defensive captain Maurice Crum, Jr.

Moving on to today, to preview this weekend’s matchup with Purdue. Of course we also have that podcast available as well. And if you are really into the podcasts – have no fear, we also posted the post game press conference from MSU and the MSU Wrap Up.

Before we delve into the latest offerings on our site today – it is time for a look back to one of the signature come-from-behind wins of the Charlie Weis era at Notre Dame. In a driving rainstorm in East Lansing, the Irish rallied from a 37-21 deficit at the end of the third quarter to claim a 40-37 win over Michigan State. It was a great game for the Irish – and a memorable moment for und.com. Still in our infancy in offering video content that season, we made the trip to East Lansing and recorded one of our top-viewed videos. Ever wonder what it is like to run on the field to celebrate a big win? and you will know.

You can also take time to watch with Coach Weis. Once we got back to campus, we put together a utilizing the coaches film from the game to break down the entire contest – including the now legendary comeback.

No worries, und.com is hitting the road again this weekend to make sure we bring you any possible great moments from this weekend’s contest.

THURSDAY – COLLEGE FOOTBALL RETURNS (8-28-08)

College football returns to TV tonight, and although it is not the Fighting Irish taking the field, it still has to get all ND fans pumped for the home opener, now just nine days away.

The interviews with Irish defensive players from last night have been posted – check out the talk und.com’s Jack Nolan had with , veteran CB and a key player on Notre Dame’s defensive front this season – fifth-year senior DE .

This evening, Coach Weis returns to the post-practice interview table and we will have his entire conversation with the media posted tonight … we will also produce our final practice report of the week … the Irish will hold a closed practice on Saturday, with the captains and leadership committee available for interviews … on Sunday, Coach Weis will hold a media session at 4 p.m. – the same time his weekly game wrap ups are scheduled for this season (which we plan to bring to you live for the first time this year).

Feedback Question/Answer – One of the questions we are asked a lot here at und.com is why there is no transcript each time Coach Weis talks to the media. To produce an accurate and fast transcript, the Notre Dame Sports Information Office arranges for ASAP Transcripts to listen in on the press conferences – and for that to happen, it has to be a structured question and answer session. For the transcription people to hear the questions, both Coach Weis and the media need to be miked up. This occurs at his press conferences on Tuesday of each game week, the post game press conferences (at home) and his game review on Sunday – therefore there is a transcript available.

When Coach Weis meets with the media after practice on Wednesday and Thursday of each game week, it is much more of an informal gathering with the media and that is why we have started to overlay the video with the questions asked by the media – so you can easily understand what subject he is talking about.

If you have anymore questions about Fighting Irish All-Access, you can contact us two ways – click the feedback button on the bottom of each page of und.com, or send an e-mail to und.com_allaccess@yahoo.com.

END OF THE DAY (8-27-08)

Football Update – Wrapping up the video coverage for the day and just back from post practice interviews … keep an eye out late this evening for a media session with defensive coordinator Corwin Brown (will be linked on the front page of the site) … tomorrow we will have interviews with Maurice Crum, Jr., Terrail Lambert and Justin Brown … don’t forget to check out today’s , highlighting the defensive drills.

WELCOME! (8-27-08)

Welcome to the newest addition to und.com – the Fighting Irish All-Access Video Blog. The video crew at und.com is committed to providing Irish fans the best coverage of their teams on the internet and we hope that this space will turn into a key resource to keep those fans informed of the latest videos posted on und.com.

Today is a big day for Fighting Irish All-Access as well – our updated media player has launched. Utilizing Microsoft’s Silverlight Technology, the updated media player will allow our video packages to be viewed on all browsers (no more IE or Safari restrictions) and all platforms (fully PC and Mac compatible).

Our goal with this video blog is to allow fans greater access to our content. In just the first 17 days of full production this year (going back to media day on Aug. 8) we have produced over 100 videos on und.com. With limited space on the front page of the site, where we are allowed to only highlight four videos, many of the pieces we produce fall through the cracks. In this space, we will provide deep links directly to several of the videos we have produced, let you know what projects we are working on and answer any web site feedback questions that might come our way.

Here are a few things to note about und.com’s Fighting Irish All-Access

  • Und.com is the only place on the internet where you can hear/watch every media gathering with Coach Weis this season. His official Tuesday press conference and post game press conference (for home games) will also be available via Podcast.
  • While other media entities are limited to three minutes of footage for their video coverage, und.com operates with no time contraints for any of our videos.
  • Irish fans will be able to watch every home game this year for volleyball, women’s soccer, men’s soccer, hockey, women’s lacrosse, men’s lacrosse, baseball and soccer contests. For men’s basketball, und.com will broadcast every non-conference home game, while for women’s basketball we will cover all home games not already selected for broadcast by television. This season we are committed to doing a live interview with a member of the Irish coaching staff after each of our live events.
  • We will continue our full home football weekend coverage. You can watch the Kickoff Luncheon, Pep Rally and Official Notre Dame Football Post Game Show (featuring game highlights this season!). Don’t forget about the und.com Stadium Camera, which is activated Saturday morning and allows Irish fans to watch the ‘House that Rockne Built’ fill up on Saturday – the stream is deactivated when NBC hits the air.

So we highly recommend adding this page as a bookmark or a favorite in your browser. It will be updated as many times as needed during the day to keep you in the loop on our latest video offerings. Speaking of which – have you seen ? …. if your are interested in the Irish men’s soccer program, take a look at what after his team’s 0-0 exhibition tie with UIC … as for the women’s soccer team, they dismantled Michigan on Monday, Aug. 25 and you can right now.
