To our fellow Black Student-Athlete alumni:

We would like to welcome you back to campus for a celebration of you and your contributions to the University of Notre Dame. It has been over sixty years since the first African-American student-athlete graduated from our University. In 1947, Frazier Thompson, who majored in pre-professional studies and who also ran track, began a long and continuous narrative of success of which you are an important part. From football to fencing, from the basketball court to the softball diamond, and from the bright lights of the stadium to the late nights of the team manager’s office, African-American women and men have elevated Our Lady’s name athletically, while maintaining the academic excellence for which the University is synonymous.

On behalf of the University of Notre Dame and the Monogram Club, we invite you back for the weekend of April 17-19, 2009, for a Celebration & Reunion. The invitation extends to every Black alumnus who directly participated in varsity athletics. We have planned various events for you and your family that we hope you will find fun, memorable, and rewarding.

This website will serve several purposes. It will provide information about our collective history of achievement. We will use it to post details about the weekend. You also should use it as a way of sharing your stories with your fellow alumni. The “Reconnect” page allows you to enter information about your memories, what you are doing now, and simply what is on your mind. We plan to share these memories during the reunion weekend. Let us hear from you.

We look forward to having you back on campus.

You are ND!

Sincerely,
Celebration & Reunion Committee
