Opportunity Announced to Join the Irish Spikers Volleyball Club

Aug. 17, 2000

The Notre Dame volleyball coaching staff has announced a unique program for the 2000 season. The Irish Spikers, a volleyball club for middle-school and elementary level boys and girls is being made available for membership.

Former Irish stand-out Lindsay Treadwell-Rosenthal, in her first year on Debbie Brown’s staff, is overseeing the club that appeals to boys and girls who have not entered high school, have a strong interest in volleyball and wish to spend time with the Notre Dame volleyball team.

Members will get the opportunity for free admission to three skill clinics taught by Notre Dame players and coaches. They will also be provided free admission to all home matches, an Irish Spikers t-shirt, and a personalized Irish Spikers membership card.

The skill clinics are tentatively scheduled to follow the matches when Georgetown (Oct. 1), Seton Hall (Oct. 22) and Providence (Nov. 5) visit the Joyce Center this season. Members will also get to meet the team after the Sept. 3, Clemson match and be introduced to the fans at the Nov. 5, Providence match.

The 2000 Irish volleyball schedule is the most entertaining and challenging of the Debbie Brown era. Five AVCA pre-season ranked teams will visit the Joyce Center: #1 UCLA, #6 Nebraska and #20 Michigan State for the adidas Invitational Sept. 8-10, #13 Colorado State and #23 Loyola Marymount in the Golden Dome Invitational Sept. 22-23, and #15 BYU in the Shamrock Invitational Sept. 1-2. The Irish will also take on #7 USC and #24 Michigan on the road.

The registration fee to join the Irish Spikers is $15.00 and anyone interested can contact Rosenthal at 219-631-5985 or via e-mail at Treadwell.1@nd.edu
