Junior volleyball middle blocker Hilary Eppink from Westfield, Ind. began the season as a veteran on the Irish front line. In 2010, she compiled more than 250 kills and 100 blocks while playing in all 31 matches. Eppink and her Irish teammates are trying to build off the momentum they gained this past weekend after winning the InnTowner Invitational in Madison, Wis. She recently sat down with Matt Lang of UND.com to tell us more about herself and career at Notre Dame.

What do you think is the most unique part of attending Notre Dame?
Definitely the tradition.

What is your major and why did you choose it?
I am a marketing major. I took some marketing classes in high school, and I really enjoyed them, so I thought I could take it further in college.

What are your plans after graduation?
I’m not sure if I want to go to grad school yet, so if not, I want to find a good job and make some money.

What is your favorite fast food restaurant?
Chipotle

What is your favorite professional team?
Indianapolis Colts

What song is atop of your iPod playlist right now?
“Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj

What’s your pregame ritual?
I don’t really have one, but I usually listen to music.

Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
Jesse McCartney

What is your favorite cartoon character?
Scooby-Doo

Do you have any siblings?
I have a stepbrother, Evan, who is 21 and a stepsister, Sarah, who is 26.

What’s the coolest place you’ve ever visited?
Broadway. We took a trip there last year for volleyball and it was great.

What dining hall do you eat at, and what’s your favorite food there?
I go to South, and I usually get something to eat from the hometown section.

Who was your role model growing up?
My dad. He’s such a hard worker and he always taught me to do the right things for the right reasons.

Where is the best place to study on campus?
For me personally, I prefer CoMo (Coleman-Morris Center).

What do you miss most about being away from home?
My family

If you could trade places with Coach Brown for a day, what would you do?
I hear she likes to skateboard, so I’d cruise around campus on her skateboard.

Do you have any nicknames?
In high school, they called me the Hammer. At Notre Dame most people just call me Hil.

What is your favorite movie?
“She’s the Man”

What is the best part of playing at Notre Dame?
I really like the environment that we play in. We have a lot of loyal fans that come to every game and the team camaraderie is great.
