Senior defender Bilal Duckett of the Notre Dame men’s soccer team has started all six games for the Irish this season, helping the team to a 2-2-2 start. The Peachtree City, Ga., native and his teammates battle 12th-ranked St. John’s on Sat., Sept. 25 at noon at Alumni Stadium. Earlier this week, Duckett sat down with UND.com’s Adam Schmitz to talk about himself, his game and Notre Dame men’s soccer.
1. If you could travel to one place in the world, where would it be and why? If I could travel any place in the world, I would go some where in Africa. It would be an eye-opening experience and I would do some service there. I would use soccer as a medium to teach kids about AIDS and other diseases.
2. Who has been the most influential person in your life? The most influential people in my life have been my parents. They are always pushing me to be a better person. They have taught me to aim higher and never limit myself.
3. Where are you living this year? I live off campus at Oak Hill. I spent my first three years in Stanford.
4. What is your favorite place to eat in Eddy Street Commons? My favorite place to eat in Eddy Street Commons is 5 Guys. That’s where I go when I want to get my fat guy on.
5. Who have been your favorite professors thus far at Notre Dame? My favorite professors at Notre Dame have been Carl Ackermann and Richard Pierce
6. Do you prefer early classes or late classes? I prefer to have early classes. I like to get them out of the way.
7. What is your favorite dining hall food? My favorite dining hall foods are Holiday Prime Rib and Lucky Charms.
8. What activities do you enjoy outside of soccer? My favorite activities outside of soccer are listening to music, drawing, sleeping, and watching movies.
9. What are your plans after college? I really don’t have a clue as to what I will do after college. I may take a fifth year or play soccer, but preferably play soccer.
10. What is your dream job outside of soccer? My dream job outside of soccer would be being Ari Gold from “Entourage.”
11. In high school you were a goal scorer, now you play defense, what’s your preferred position?My preferred position would be a defender scoring goals. D Block will score a lot of goals this year.
12. What is your favorite team to play with on FIFA ’10? My favorite team on FIFA ’10 is Arsenal.
13. Who is your favorite professional athlete? My favorite pro athlete is Michael Jordan.
14. What is your pregame routine and meal? My pregame routine and meal means I will eat pancakes at Boss’ house, then shower, clean my shoes, pray and listen to music.
15. What has been your favorite moment as a player at Notre Dame? My favorite moment as a player at Notre Dame would be scoring the game-winning goal at Georgetown last year in overtime.
16. What is your favorite away stadium to play in and why? My favorite away stadium is at Michigan. The atmosphere ridiculous. I love playing in situations with heckling, rowdy fans.
17. What are your team goals? Our team goals are to give up less than .5 goals per game. Winning the Big East season, Big East Tournament and the National Championship.
18. What are your individual goals? My individual goals are to get three goals and five assists and to stop as many people as possible.
19. What’s your favorite girl’s dorm? My favorite girl’s dorm is Welsh Family because my girlfriend lives there. She would kill me if I said anything different.
20. What’s your prediction for the Stanford game? My prediction for the Notre Dame -Stanford game is 31-24 Notre Dame.
