Jan. 11, 2018

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The John R. Wooden Award presented by Wendy’s named Notre Dame junior guard Arike Ogunbowale to its Midseason Top-25 list on Thursday afternoon. The Wooden Award is given annually to the most outstanding men’s and women’s college basketball players.

Ogunbowale was one-of-four players from the Atlantic Coast Conference named to the prestigious list. This season, Ogunbowale is averaging 20.8 points per game, which leads all players in the ACC and ranks 23rd in the nation.

Facing the No. 1 ranked strength of schedule, the Milwaukee native has simply reached double-digit points in all 16 games and leads the ACC in 20-plus point games with 12. Ogunbowale tied her career high of 32 points in the win at Michigan, and in the past two ACC road contests, has reached the 25-point mark.

The list will eventually be cut down to the top-15 players when the National Ballot comes out. Voting will open prior to the start of the NCAA Tournament and will allow voters to take into consideration performance during early round games.

The Wooden Award All-American Team will be announced the week of the Elite Eight. The winner of the 2018 John R. Wooden Award will be presented during the ESPN College Basketball Awards on Friday, April 6, 2018.
