Nunge Named ACC Co-Player Of The Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Rebecca Nunge has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Co-Player of the Week after leading the team to a 3-0 record over the weekend at the BGSU/Toledo Invitational. Nunge helped lead the Irish to wins over VCU (3-1), Bowling Green (3-0) and Toledo (3-0). Monday’s honor is the first from the ACC in her career.

Nunge was named the BGSU/Toledo Invitational MVP after her stellar weekend of play. The junior was incredibly efficient in Ohio, posting 29 kills on 63 attempts while only making two errors for a hitting percentage of .429 over the three matches. Nunge recorded a career-best hitting percentage of .615 in the win over Toledo on Saturday night (8-0-13). The junior was also effective on the defensive side of the net, posting nine blocks at the invite

Nunge is second on the team in total kills through six matches with 56 in 2017 and leads the Irish in hitting percentage with a mark of .336. The junior has also added 19 bocks and nine digs on the season.

Nunge and the Irish are off to their best start in over a decade, as Notre Dame is 6-0 after the first two weeks of play. The team is back on the road for its next three matches, traveling to the state of South Carolina or the Coastal Carolina Classic. The Irish take on the hosts Coastal Carolina on Friday, September 8 at 7 p.m. ET.
