Notre Dame junior Yared Nuguse has been named the ACC Track Performer of the Week by the conference on Wednesday after his record-setting performance at the Meyo Invitational in the 3,000m run this past weekend.
Nuguse wasted little time opening up his 2020 indoor track season on Saturday, as the two-time NCAA champion set the Notre Dame program record, the Loftus Sports Center track record and the Meyo Invitational record with a time of 7:46.71 in the 3,000. The time is currently the fastest recorded in the country at the DI level this season.
The Irish are back in action this weekend, as the men’s distance runners will travel to Ames, Iowa, to compete at the Iowa Stat Classic on Feb. 14 and 15. The rest of the squad will head to the Nashville for the Music City Invitational on Feb. 14 and 15.
