COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Notre Dame Novice Eight claimed another victory this afternoon to remain undefeated as the Irish women’s rowing team faced Ohio State and Michigan in a tri-meet.

Notre Dame’s Novice Eight squad, which also defeated Wisconsin and Michigan State, claimed the win in the time of 7:12.96. The boat with coxswain Kim Benard included Michelle Olsgard, Courtney Mercer, Katherine Burnett, Kelly Cooney, Amy Braun, Erin Dowd, Katie Besson and Megan Feely. Michigan finished second in the race with a time of 7:19.22, while Ohio State was third in 7:20.45.

In the four other races, Notre Dame’s boats were third in each race. The Varsity Eight finished its race in 7:25.45, while the Second Varsity crossed the finish line in 7:36.49. The Varsity Four boat finished with a time of 8:39.99. The Second Novice Eight boat just missed out on second-place as it finished in 7:41.12.

“All of our boats raced very hard this afternoon and I was very pleased with our efforts,” head coach Martin Stone says. “We’re making progress with each and every race. I’m extremely happy with our novice boats as they continue to make great strides every week.”
