Notre Dame Women's Lacrosse Adds Seven

Aug. 20, 2014

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – With classes starting next week, the University of Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team will be bolstering its lineup with seven dynamic freshmen who will help the program build off of a 2014 season that saw the Irish selected to host the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

Notre Dame will welcome Rory Byrne (South Bend, Ind.), Sydney Cardozo (Richmond, Va.), Molly Cobb (Towson, Md.), Abi Cullinan (Pittsford, N.Y.), Annie Dooley (Chicago, Ill.), Caroline Doyle (Towson, Md.) and Olivia Mikkelsen (Alexandria, Va.) to an already stout lineup for the 2015 season.

“We are thrilled to welcome the women’s lacrosse class of 2018,” head coach Christine Halfpenny said. “This group of student-athletes brings depth to every field position. Their size, speed and lacrosse IQ will be outstanding additions to our returning group. It is our expectation every year that the freshman will come in and compete right away for playing time.

“One of the most exciting things about this group is the gritty, tough and determined attitude they bring to the field. They each have a background that will immediately help them transition to our physical brand of fast and aggressive lacrosse. We can’t wait to get started with them in a few weeks when they arrive to ND!”
