NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s rowing lightweight-eight boat is ranked 14th nationally in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing Collegiate Coaches Preseason Poll. Notre Dame, who finished 12th in the 1999 lightweight-eight poll, received 46 points. Princeton and Villanova both received five first-place votes and 195 points to share the top spot. Wisconsin was third with 176 points, followed by Radcliffe and Brown.
Brown University received the preseason nod in the women’s open-eight boat. Brown received 16 first-place votes and 528 points. Virginia is second with one first-place vote and 497 points, followed by California (492) and a tie for fourth between Washington and USC (465).
The next poll will be released April 5, 2000.
