Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly

“Congratulations to NC State. They are a good football team. Matthew Dayes is a really solid back. They did a nice job bringing Jalan McClendon in, forcing us to make some adjustments with their wildcat offense.”

“Obviously it comes down to the blocked punt return. I’m disappointed primarily in our inability to mount anything offensively and the turnovers on the offensive side ball. But, you win together and you lose together.”

“We’re looking for wins, not improvement on one side of the ball or the other. Although, I was very pleased with our physicality, toughness and tackling, I’m just extremely disappointed in the offensive execution and lack of ability to manage the snapping of the football ââ’¬” which was atrocious as well.”

NC State head coach Dave Doeren

“I want to say how proud I am of our players and our staff, they did a tremendous job getting our guys ready to play in really tough weather conditions and our players stuck together through some difficulties throughout the game.”

“I thought it was a great football game, Notre Dame played really hard. I want to thank our students that were here with fall break, the way they hung out there, our band was all there in full attendance. For our fans that were there and stayed the whole time, thank you. The ones that were there were loud, and I want to tell you thank you for that. It meant a lot to our players and we know it was a challenge with all the conditions and how far people have to come in the rain, so thank you to the Wolfpack fans and all the students that supported us.”

“A lot of people stepped up in this game. Defensively, I thought we played outstanding, not really worried about yardage because of the field condition, but the way they kept going up and stopping them on third and fourth downs was what was important.”

Key players in the game: “Pharoah McKever obviously found a way, to make a play for us there with the punt block. We had three guys rushing, and then Dexter Wright able to pick it up and score.”
