NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame volleyball program and head coach Jim McLaughlin unveiled the 2017 schedule on Wednesday, June 14, a 32-game slate that features 16 contests at Notre Dame. The Irish are coming off a season in which they produced the most wins in a season since 2005, finishing 2016 with a record of 22-10. Notre Dame went 13-7 in conference play, marking the most ACC victories in program history. Of the 22 victories, 16 came in straight-set fashion.
SEASON TICKETS AVAILABLE
Tickets for the upcoming 2017 Univeristy of Notre Dame women’s volleyball season are now available at discounted rates. Special early bird adult season tickets, youth/senior season ticket and fan packs (four tickets) can be purchased by following this link. Early bird tickets will remain on sale through the end of July.
SEASON OPENER IN COMPTON
For the first time in program history the Irish will open the season in Compton Family Ice Arena with the Golden Dome Invitational on August 25 and 26. Notre Dame kicks off the season at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 25 against intrastate foe Valparaiso and then plays a pair of matches on Saturday at 12:30 p.m and 7 p.m.
B1G MATCHES IN SEPTEMBER
Notre Dame hosts Michigan State in Purcell Pavilion as part of the Shamrock Invitational at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 15. The Irish and Spartans squared off in East Lansing, Michigan last season with Michigan State taking the match by a final of 3-0. The Irish will also face Ohio State at the Coastal Carolina Classic at noon on Saturday, September 9 in Conway, South Carolina.
NON-CONFERENCE ROAD MATCHES
The Irish open their road schedule in Ohio at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 1 against VCU followed by a true road contest against Bowling Green at 7 p.m. Both matches will be played on Bowling Green’s campus. The next day Notre Dame will make the short drive to take on Toledo at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 2.
Notre Dame will also take part in the Coastal Carolina Classic. The Irish will take on the aforementioned Ohio State Buckeyes along with Florida International and the hosts Coastal Carolina. All three matches will be played during the weekend of September 8-9.
CHALLENGING ACC SLATE
The ACC portion of the schedule consists of 20 matches against conference opponents. The Irish open on the road at Louisville at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 22. The following weekend Notre Dame plays its first league home game in Purcell Pavilion at 7 p.m. as the Irish host Miami on Friday, September 29.
The Irish host a trio of 2016 NCAA Championship teams from the ACC. Notre Dame and Florida State are set to clash at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 1 and later that month the team welcomes Pittsburgh at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 29. The reigning ACC champion North Carolina comes to town for a late season showdown at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 17 in a rematch of last year’s five-set thriller.
The Irish wrap up their 2017 regular season home schedule at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 19 against NC State. The match against the Wolfpack will be played in Purcell Pavilion.
