NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Finals may be wrapping up for Notre Dame students, but the student-athletes of the Notre Dame women’s tennis team are doing anything but winding down this weekend. The Irish are traveling to Northwestern University for the first and second rounds of the 2014 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship.

Notre Dame will face DePaul tomorrow, May 9 at noon in the first round of competition. DePaul is 22-3 on the season and ranked 46th in the country. Previously, when both teams were in the BIG EAST conference, Notre Dame saw a lot of DePaul, but they have not played the Blue Demons yet this season. The Irish have never lost to DePaul, having gone 22-0 in the all-time series.

If the Irish advance to the second round, the will play either Northwestern or Miami (Ohio) on Saturday at noon.

“We are excited to be in a regional with three teams we haven’t played this year,” says head coach Jay Louderback. “All thee of the teams won their conference tournament so we are expecting tough, competitive matches.”

Notre Dame is currently ranked 28th in the country after going 16-9 (8-6 ACC) so far this season.
