NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame track and field teams will travel to compete in the Border Battle, held at the University of Louisville. The meet has an unusual format in the sense that Louisville and Notre Dame (teams that will both compete in the ACC in the near future) will compete together against Indiana and Purdue (teams of the Big 10).
This meet will also be the first of the outdoor season that is within driving distance, meaning that the Irish can take more athletes to compete. Head coach Joe Piane says the simpler travel schedule gives many members of both teams one more chance to qualify for the ACC Championships next weekend.
“We still have several kids who have aspirations to compete at the ACC Championships, and this weekend provides an excellent opportunity for them to qualify for that,” Piane explains.
Thirty women and 29 men will make the trip to Louisville, Ky., tomorrow, with the action taking place all day Saturday, April 12. Live results will be available on the Louisville website and a summary of events will be posted on UND.com at the end of the day.
