Notre Dame Travels To Georgetown, USF For BIG EAST Action

March 27, 2009

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame softball team will double-dip into doubleheader action this weekend with a pair of games scheduled at both Georgetown (March 28) and USF (March 29). The four-game weekend marks the end of a seven-game homestand that saw the Irish post a 6-1 record, including victories in each of the last four contests.

“After being at home for the past several games we’ve gotten to fine-tune several aspects of our play to help us prepare for the upcoming conference weekends,” Irish head coach Deanna Gumpf said. “We put together a nice roll during this time of the year last season, and look to do the same once again.”

The Bulls return 18 players from 2008 including reigning BIG EAST Rookie of the Year Capri Catalano. The defending BIG EAST regular season champions went 44-20 last season.

Georgetown is in its fourth season as a Division I program and won 21 games in 2008. The Hoyas return all-Independent Player of the Year Samantha Peters and 11 players who started more than 15 games last season.
