Notre Dame To Host Mexican National Team On Friday, March 14

March 3, 2008

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s soccer team will host the Mexican national team on Friday, March 14 at Alumni Field. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. (ET). In addition to the Notre Dame-Mexico clash, the Mexican national team will play Michigan State at Notre Dame’s Alumni Field on Wednesday, March 12 at 6:00 p.m. Tickets for both contests are $5 for adults and $2 for anyone 18 and younger.

There are several ways to purchase your tickets. You can call the Notre Dame ticket office at 574-631-7356, visit und.com and click `tickets’, go to the Joyce Center Gate 1 box office or you can buy them on game night at Alumni Field. Fans are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance, thus avoiding the ticket lines on the nights of the games. Gates will open one hour before kickoff each night. Separate tickets are required for both contests.

St. Joseph Regional Medical Center is serving as the sponsor for this year’s event.

This marks the seventh time in the past eight years that the Fighting Irish have hosted a match against the Mexican national team. The two teams did not meet last spring. Notre Dame claimed a 3-0 victory in front of 2,687 fans at Alumni Field during the last meeting in April of 2006. The Irish hold a 4-1-1 advantage in the series against Mexico.

Notre Dame produced a 19-5-2 record during the 2007 season, which included a trip to the national semifinals.
