NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The 2008 National Soccer Coaching Seminar will be held March 14th and 15th on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. This year’s guest clinician is Bill Beswick, the former Manchester United and England FA psychologist.

As always, Notre Dame head coaches Bobby Clark and Randy Waldrum will round out this year’s clinicians.

Another added highlight to the seminar is the match between the Notre Dame women’s team and the Mexico women’s Olympic squad. That contest will take place on Friday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. All seminar attendees will receive a ticket to the game. In addition, Mexico head coach Leonardo Cuellar will also use the national team during the clinic.

Beswick is recognized as a leader in the field of applied sports psychology and especially renowned for his work with professional elite soccer teams. With an academic background and experience as head coach to England men’s basketball team (Commonwealth gold medal winners), Beswick was ideally placed to become the first sports psychologist operating fully in English professional soccer.

Clark just finished his seventh year at Notre Dame by taking the men’s team to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for the second straight season. He is a two time BIG EAST Coach of the Year and holds a Scottish FA “A” License. Not only has Clark coached at a high level, but he has also enjoyed a distinguished professional career in the Scottish League making more than 800 first-team appearances, 696 of which were with the Aberdeen Dons. He was also involved in three of Scotland’s World Cup appearances as a player in 1970, 1974, and 1978.

He was also at the helm during Notre Dame’s run to the 2004 NCAA title and also took the Fighting Irish to the College Cup in 1999 & 2000. Waldrum has been a member of the U. S. National team coaching staff since 1992 and was named an NSCAA staff instructor in 2004. He is a four time BIG EAST Coach of the Year recipient.
