Notre Dame Ties for 14th at Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame men’s golf team finished tied for 14th out of 19 teams at the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate, following final-round action Sunday of the 54-hole tournament at the par-72, 6,953-yard Tanglewood Resort.

Freshman Steve Ratay led Notre Dame with a 227 total, after firing a 78 in Sunday’s round. Senior co-captain Brad Hardin posted the team’s best round on Sunday (72) en route to a 229 total while classmate Willie Kent posted a 76 for a 230 total. Junior Todd Vernon shot a final-round 78 for a 237 total while his classmate Jeff Connell turned in a 73 on Sunday, after withdrawing from Saturday’s two rounds due to the flu.

Notre Dame and Akron tied for 14th at 918, five shots behind Wisconsin. Northwestern’s Luke Donald claimed medalist honors, outdistancing Minnesota’s James McLean by four strokes.
