Notre Dame Tied For Fourth Heading Into Final Round Of Lady Paladin

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Notre Dame women’s golf team carded a 305 during the second round of the Lady Paladin Invitational on Saturday at the par-72, 6,288-yard Furman University Golf Course. The 12th-ranked Fighting Irish will carry a 36-hole total of 616 (+40) into Sunday’s third and final round. Freshman So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea/Bradenton Prep (FL)) leads Notre Dame with an eight-over par 152 total and is among a four-way tie for 10th.

TCU carded the low round of the tournament on Saturday with a 297 and the Horned Frogs lead the 18-team field with a 597 (+21) total. East Tennessee State is seven shots back with a 604, while Augusta State rounds out the top three with a 613. Notre Dame is tied with UNC-Greensboro for fourth, 19 shots off the lead.

Laura Jansone from East Tennessee State leads all 96 golfers after 36 holes of play with an even-par 144. TCU’s Valentine Derrey and Prisela Campbell are both tied for second with 147 totals.

The Fighting Irish, who are gunning for their fourth straight tournament title to open the season, entered the day in a tie for eighth. Park fired an even-par 72 on Saturday, which was an eight-shot improvement on her first-round score from Friday. Her classmate Katie Conway (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) is currently in a 10-way tie for 19th with a 154 (75-79).

Junior Lisa Maunu (St. Thomas, Ontario/Parkside Collegiate Institute) carries a 155 (75-80) total into the third round for Notre Dame. She is in a two-way tie for 29th. Kristin Wetzel (Middletown, N.Y./Hilton Head Prep (SC)) chipped six strokes off of her first-round score with a three-over par 75 on Saturday. The sophomore is among eight tied for 31st with a 156 total. Fellow sophomore Annie Brophy (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) carded a seven-over par 79 during the second round, which was five shots better than her first-round score. She has a 163 and is in a three-way tie for 76th.
