• Sophomore G Colin Falls poured in a career-high 23 points, besting the 20 he scored earlier this season vs. DePaul.
• Falls has made three or more 3-point baskets in each of the past six games.
• Falls scored from 3-point range on six of his seven baskets today and now has made 84% of his field goals (78 of 93) from beyond the arc.
• With his gamewinning three-pointer, senior G Chris Thomas finished with 11 points for his 97th career double-digit scoring game (out of 113).
• Thomas crept closer to the 2,000-point milestone and now has 1,985 career points (he is 26 points shy of tying Troy Murphy for 5th on the ND career scoring charts, at 2,011).
• Thomas has started every game of his career (113) and remains third on that ND list, behind former teammate Matt Carroll (125) and 1988 grad. David Rivers (116).
• Junior G Chris Quinn (13) scored in double figures for the 36th time in his ND career while Falls scored 10-plus for the 12th time.
• Senior Jordan Cornette’s game-ending block gave him three for the game and pushed his career total to 181 (just 19 shy of tying the team record held by 1992 graduate LaPhonso Ellis).
• Notre Dame made a season-high 13 three-point baskets, four shy of the team record (17) set last season vs. St. John’s
• Seven of Notre Dame’s eight second-half field goals were from three-point range.
• Notre Dame overcame its worst field-goal shooting game of the season (32.3 pct.) by making a season-high 13 three-point baskets, totaling just 10 turnovers and coming up with 16 second-chance points. The Irish also owned a key edge at the free-throw line (12-of-14 for ND, just 10-of-22 for SJU).
• St. John’s owned a decisive advantage in field-goal pct. (57% to 34%), thanks in large part to a 32-10 edge in points in the paint. Notre Dame totaled just 10 turnovers but SJU cashed them in for 17 points.
• The tight game saw neither team lead by more than five points.
• The St. John’s bench outscored the Notre Dame reserves 15-2 (8 points from Ryan Williams and 7 from Phil Missere).
• Mike Brey is now four wins shy of his 100th victory in four-plus season at Notre Dame (96-47).
• The Irish now are 8-3 in one-point games during the Brey era (2-1 this season).
• Notre Dame has made at least one three-point basket in 193 consecutive games.
• The Irish are 7-1 in their past eight games and improved to 9-2 at home this season (7 of the ND’s next 10 games are on the road).
• Notre Dame now leads the series with St. John’s 17-13, including 5-1 in the last six.
• St. John’s was making its first appearance at the Joyce Center in four years (dating back to Feb. 5, 2001).
