Notre Dame Soccer Coaching Seminar To Feature Manchester United's Brian McClair

Jan. 21, 2004

The University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s soccer programs have announced the dates for the 2004 National Soccer Coaching Seminar for Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13, in the Loftus Sports Center on Notre Dame’s campus. In the 10th-Annual National Coaching Seminar, both Bobby Clark and Randy Waldrum are pleased to announce that this year’s program will feature “The Manchester United Way” with special guest Brian McClair.

The reserve team coach for Manchester United, McClair is a veteran of 296 league appearances with Manchester United from 1987-98. He won the ’85 Scottish Cup and ’86 league championship with Celtic and was voted the Scotland Player of the Year in 1987. McClair scored 126 goals from 1987-98 with Manchester United.

The seminar will be held rain or shine in Notre Dame’s beautiful Loftus Sports Center, which features a recently installed Prestige Artificial Turf surface. Friday evening will feature a social when clinic participants can meet and talk one on one in an informal setting with the clinicians.

Both Clark and Waldrum will also take part in the seminar as well. Coach Waldrum is a five-time conference coach of the year selection and has helped the Irish to two Final Four appearances since 1999. Coach Clark was a member of three Scottish World Cup teams and has helped his squads to nine NCAA Tournament appearances.
