Notre Dame Set for Two Against Hawks

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — After playing three games in a 25-hour time span, the University of Notre Dame baseball team ventures west to face St. Joseph’s (Pa.) for two midweek games in the Snowbird Classic. The Irish (7-6) and the Hawks (4-7) will square off at 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday and again at 10 a.m. ET on Wednesday at North Charlotte Regional Park.

Following its first weekend of Atlantic Coast Conference play, Notre Dame enters a stretch in which it will compete twice during the week between each ACC weekend series. The Irish, who most recently showed their resiliency in a comeback win at Miami, will have the chance to showcase their depth during the week.

Road Warriors

Notre Dame’s contests against St. Joseph’s mark games 14-15 of a stretch of 19 consecutive games away from Frank Eck Stadium. Of those 19, 10 of them are true road contests.

Brown Takes the Mound

The Irish will throw left-hander Cameron Brown on Tuesday against the Hawks. Brown, who has made six relief appearances this season, will make his first career start for Notre Dame.

In his career, Brown owns a 5.74 ERA over 21 appearances out of the bullpen.

Series Notes

  • Notre Dame and St. Joseph’s will face each other for the first time in program history.
  • Notre Dame is 4-3 in neutral site matchups in 2018.
  • Nick Podkul has reached base safely in 19 straight games, dating back to 2017. The second baseman has hit .408 (29-71) with seven doubles, two triples, one home run and 19 RBI during that span.
  • David LaManna has reached base safely in 12 of 13 career games.
