The three-session meet starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26. The second day, Jan. 27, will include both a morning and evening session. The morning sessions begins at 10 a.m. and the evening session starts at 5 p.m. This will be the final home meet of the season for both the Irish teams. The other schools competing this weekend are Connecticut, Oakland, Penn State and West Virginia. There will be a total of 40 events (20 per gender) competed in over the two-day stretch.

The Notre Dame women won last year’s Shamrock Invitational by defeating Louisville 218-148 and Oakland 258-108.

The Irish women are currently 4-0 in dual-meet action and are ranked 19th in the latest College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) dual-meet ranking.

Senior Katie Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) paced the Irish to a second-place finish at the Michigan Invitational with three individual victories. Carroll won the 200-yard IM (2:01.78), 500-yard freestyle (4:48.31) and the 200-yard butterfly for Notre Dame. The three wins upped her win total to 13 individual victories this season.

Junior Caroline Johnson (Springfield, Mo./Glendale) also had a strong meet in Michigan, with an individual third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 23.57. Caroline Johnson was also part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team, along with Carroll, Christa Riggins (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) and Rebecca Grove (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) that placed third in the event in a school season-best time of 1:34.19.
