NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame rowing head coach Martin Stone announced Thursday the schedule for the 2012-13 season.
The nine-time defending BIG EAST Conference Champion Fighting Irish face a challenging eight-race regular season slate that opens with a dual contest with Michigan State and Michigan Sept. 16 on Lake Belleville in Ann Arbor, Mich. It will be the second straight season that Notre Dame begins the year on Belleville Lake, having competed in a four-team regatta that included Eastern Michigan in 2011.
After a one-month hiatus, the Fighting Irish return to the water Oct. 21 at the Head of the Charles in Boston, Mass., for a daylong race on the Charles River.
The fall season concludes with a dual showdown in Columbus, Ohio against Ohio State and Michigan State Nov. 10.
Notre Dame kicks off the spring schedule at the Oak Ridge/Cardinal Invite in Oak Ridge, Tenn., March 16-17. The Oak Ridge/Cardinal Invite will be the first multi-day event of the season. The Fighting Irish close the month with a four-team race against Michigan, Michigan State and Iowa March 30 on Lake Ovid in East Lansing Mich.
Notre Dame returns to Columbus, Ohio April 6 for a dual race against Ohio State and Michigan, scheduled to be held at the Griggs Reservoir. The second multi-day race of the season will follow April 20-21 at the Lake Natoma Invite in Sacramento, Calif. The regular season concludes with the Dale England Cup April 26-27 on Lake Lemon in Bloomington, Ind.
The 2013 BIG EAST Championship is slated for May 19 in Mercer County, N.J. The 2013 NCAA Championships will be held at the Eagle Creek Reservoir in Indianapolis, Ind. May 31-June 2.
